Francesco Musante x Rosarubra – Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva – 14.5%
Sensory Notes
Color: An almost black red, compact, impenetrable, and with excellent consistency.
Nose: Intense and complex, with initial notes of ripe cherry, dried roses, red fruit jam, and hints of dry hay and sweet, vanilla-spiced tones.
Palate: Dry on the palate, with pleasant acidity and sapidity, and firm tannins softened by significant warmth and balancing smoothness.
Cherry and black cherry in spirit, toasted tobacco, licorice, and a delicate iron note with hints of dry hay and vanilla. A long, persistent finish of red fruit jam and spices.
Harvest:
The unspoiled Rosarubra Oasis, nestled between the sea and the Abruzzo mountains and bordered by ancient trees, benefits from a magnificent temperature range thanks to its altitude of 300–500 meters. This is a territory ruled entirely by nature, free from human interference.
An extraordinary form of symbiotic agriculture that respects the microbiology of the soil and plants, promoting self-production and the use of indigenous mycorrhizae that enrich the soil’s microorganisms, strengthening healthy vineyard growth and preserving the genetic identity of our terroir.
In this medium-textured soil thrive guyot, spur cordon, and Abruzzo pergola-trained vines of this precious and rare line, producing a pure Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The vineyard enjoys a perfect exposure and very high planting density exceeding 5000 vines per hectare, with minimal yields around 1.2 kg per vine.
During the manual October harvest, only the best grapes are selected — a precious result of this biodynamic, organic, regenerative, and sustainable agriculture — ensuring total respect for the environment and ecosystem while expressing the true typicity of the land.
Vinification:
Fermentation in 10 hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation and further aging in 300-liter oak barrels. Bottled in total absence of oxygen, with a final refinement period.
Food Pairing Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC:
A rare, refined, and long-lived wine, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC is a pleasure to keep in the cellar, as it will positively surprise you over time.
For those who prefer to enjoy it now, we recommend serving at 16–18°C in a large, wide-rimmed glass, uncorking it a little before serving to let it open up fully.
Perfect for any occasion, it can be enjoyed alone or with company, especially with structured and flavorful dishes: appetizers, starters, vegetarian plates, red meats, and medium to long-aged cheeses. Think ham puffs, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, parmesan risotto, black pepper steak, grilled sirloin, or aged Abruzzese pecorino.
